I took my Bachelor's Degree in 2003 from the Department of Public Administration of the University of Hacettepe, Ankara - Turkey. Afterwards, I began the Master's Degree programme of Political and Social Sciences in the same department and graduated in 2006. For the Master's thesis, I analysed the intellectual links between contemporary Neoconservatives, Leo Strauss and Carl Schmitt. During my writing of the thesis, I was employed by the department as a research and teaching assistant, and later, I was awarded a full scholarship by the Higher Education Council of Turkey for my future PhD study.
I am currently a Doctor of Philosophy candidate in the Politics Department of the University of Manchester. I am writing my thesis, Deconstructing Conservatism: Legacy of Traditional Conservatism in Radical Policies, under the supervision of Prof. Alan Hamlin and Prof. Hillel Steiner. There, I am challenging the constitutive dichotomies of the conservative ideology through a comparison of classical and radical conservatisms. My broader research interests include political ideologies, poststructuralism and democratic theory.
Up to now, I have written an article on conservatism for the Dictionary of Political Concepts, published two other articles on Derridian deconstruction and Turkish modernisation, and I am one of the co-writers of the book titled as The Political Parties of Turkey. Also, a further article of mine on neoconservatism will be published in October 2009, and I submitted an article to the internationally acclaimed journal, History of Political Thought, on the Conservative Ideology in general. It is under peer-review process.
By October 2009, I joined the Anglo American University as a lecturer, and also organising the conference 'New Conservatisms and New Approaches' to be held in Prague in 14-15 May 2010.
